Japanese for Military and Government Personnel

Private language instruction for your goals, with scheduling discussed around your availability.

Give Your Japanese a Practical Purpose

An assignment, relocation, or professional goal can give you a specific reason to study. You may need to begin with the writing system, strengthen existing skills, or prepare to communicate more comfortably in everyday situations.

Mike has worked with U.S. military personnel studying Japanese through Simple Gaijin since the business's early years. That experience includes students whose language goals may be shaped by assignments, relocation, testing, or professional responsibilities.

Start With the Goal and the Timeline

Explain the general purpose of your study, your previous Japanese experience, and any relevant timeline. That helps Mike discuss a suitable starting point and realistic lesson priorities. If your goal involves an official assessment such as the DLPT or another organization-specific language requirement, identify it when you contact Mike so he can discuss whether Simple Gaijin's instruction is an appropriate fit.

JLPT preparation for N5–N3 is available as a specific learning focus. Students do not need to disclose classified, controlled, or operationally sensitive information. General information about your language goal, timeline, and learning needs is sufficient for discussing instruction.

Build the Language Beneath the Task

Depending on your level, instruction may address literacy, grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, and speaking. The structured Japanese curriculum provides a broader pathway for developing those skills. If your immediate priority is everyday communication before a move, you can also discuss conversation practice and practical language preparation.

Students preparing for a relocation or assignment in Japan can focus on practical Japanese for everyday life, transportation, shopping, housing-related interactions, and communication outside the workplace.

Work Directly With One Instructor

All regular lessons are live, private, online, and 60 minutes with Mike, with at least one lesson per week. You can revisit difficult concepts and connect lessons with the work you have already done.

Availability is arranged individually across time zones. Share your time zone and possible study windows so Mike can discuss whether a schedule will work.

Independent Japanese Instruction

Simple Gaijin is an independent education business. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by the U.S. Department of Defense or any government agency.

Lessons support individual language learning. Any official requirements should be confirmed with the organization responsible for them.

Discuss a Plan That Fits Your Situation

Review lesson pricing and enrollment, then tell Mike what you are working toward. Your inquiry starts a conversation about fit, starting point, and availability.
